What causes aging skin?

There are many factors that cause aging skin, intrinsic aging - or natural aging which is  determined by genetics.

There is also extrinsic aging, caused by atmospheric factors. Some atmospheric factors that impact aging skin include:

  • Extended exposure to sunlight
  • Lack of hydration
  • Air pollution
  • Poor nutrition
  • Smoking

Preventing aging skin

There are simple, daily steps that you can take to prevent the aging process of your skin, as well as improve your overall health:

  • Exercise
  • Drink less alcohol
  • Healthy sun exposure
  • Stay hydrated
  • Eat vitamin rich food

In addition to the lifestyle changes above, my FullScript dispensary also has great supplements to help slow down the aging process of your skin. You can also view dispensary to see my handouts for Antioxidants and Anti-Inflammatory nutrition.

SUPPLEMENts FOR MATURE & AGING SKIN

Collagen Peptides - Vital Proteins professional

Vital Proteins’ Collagen Peptides are sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised bovine hides to ensure a high quality source of this ancient nutrient. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body supporting the health and vitality of your skin, hair, nails, bones, and joints.

Hyaluronic Acid - Klaire labs

Hyaluronic acid is a natural lubricating component of skin tissue, joint fluid, eye fluid, and other connective tissues throughout the body. Water readily binds to hyaluronic acid, forming a jelly-like substance that fills the spaces between collagen and elastin. This hydrates the skin by holding in water. It also acts as a cushioning and lubricating agent in synovial fluid surrounding joints, thus protecting against mechanical friction.

Astaxanthin - Designs for health

Astaxanthin is an extremely powerful carotenoid from the microalgae haematococcus pluvialis, one of the richest sources of natural astaxanthin. It is reddish in pigment and is what gives crustaceans such as krill, lobster, and shrimp their vibrant pink color. Astaxanthin is considered to be substantially stronger than all other well-researched antioxidants, including vitamin C, vitamin E, CoQ10, lipoic acid, and beta carotene.

Pycnogenol - allergy research group

Pycnogenol is the original French maritime pine bark extract, providing a unique combination of procyanidins, bioflavonoids, and phenolic acids.

C3 Curcumin Complex - Designs for health

C3 Curcumin Complex is a powerful antioxidant containing three different bioactive forms of curcuminoids from the spice turmeric. This antioxidant combination has been shown to support organs like the colon, liver and heart by neutralizing damaging free radicals. The emulsifier lecithin was added to increase absorption.
